Jao Camp – Mokoro Excursions

A traditional dugout canoe, poled by a skilled guide, carries guests at a slow, silent pace through the waterways near Jao Camp. From this low vantage point, details easily missed on a game drive come into focus: reed frogs, dragonflies, water lilies and the birdlife that gathers along the banks. When water levels are too low near camp, a vehicle transfer takes guests to a suitable launch point instead. The excursion depends on season, weather and the guide's judgement on the day, and age limits may apply. It is a quiet, unhurried way to see the Delta up close.
