Kachere Kastle

Kachere Kastle sits on the western shore of Lake Malawi inside the Kaningina Forest Reserve, on the M5 Lakeshore Drive through Kachere Village. The lodge is directly on the lake, so the water is close enough to read as part of daily life rather than a short drive away.

There are four en-suite room types, each fitted with their own bathroom and plumbed hot water. If you prefer to sleep outside, the lodge also runs a camping facility on the grounds. All accommodation sits within the forest reserve, which means the trees and birdlife are immediately around you — birdwatching is one of the activities the lodge organises on site.

On the property you can swim in the pool, use the small gym, or play squash. Off site, the options extend considerably: horse riding, SCUBA diving in Lake Malawi, a nine-hole golf course, and guided walks through the Nkhotakota Game Reserve are all available from the lodge. Nkhotakota is one of Malawi's larger game reserves, and the guided walks there are arranged through the lodge.

The lodge takes its address from the M5, the main lakeshore road, which connects it to the wider region.
