Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge sits in a vlei — a shallow depression that holds water seasonally — where the flat Karoo gives way to the first red sand dunes of the Kalahari, outside Kalkrand in Namibia. The lodge has thirteen suites, each built from canvas, natural stone, thatch, and large windows. Standard suites have a living room, a spacious bathroom, a terrace with loungers, and an outdoor shower. Superior suites add a private pool and a larger lounge area. All suites carry an espresso machine, mini bar, air conditioning, and amenities made locally in Namibia.

A wooden walkway connects the reception building to the main building, which holds the restaurant, a bar, and a lounge. The restaurant has a fireplace for cold Kalahari evenings. A separate room called the Kalahari Lounge keeps a whisky selection and a billiard table. A pool with a shaded seating area sits at the centre of the vlei.

Activities run morning and afternoon: guided nature drives, self-guided and guided hiking trails, and cycling. The flagship activity is the Trans Kalahari Walk, a guided two- or three-night hike across open savannah where giraffe, zebra, and antelope are commonly seen. The route ends with a night at Dunes Camp inside the reserve. The lodge is malaria-free and has secure parking.
