Karongwe Private Game Reserve, in Limpopo near Kruger, has grown into a Big Five reserve where Shiduli Safari Lodge has built its reputation on family stays rather than solitude. The lodge holds 31 suites, thatched and set among gardens loud with birdlife, plus one Royal Suite with its own plunge pool and deck for couples. Luxury Interleading rooms link two suites with a shared lounge, a practical answer to travelling as a family. Rangers and trackers run morning and afternoon game drives daily, reading spoor and alarm calls across the reserve's open vehicles. Children have their own programme, Little Paws, with track reading and birdwatching pitched to younger guests, while a dedicated children's pool sits apart from the main one. Dinner sometimes moves to the boma, an open-air enclosure ringed by wooden fencing and lit by lanterns, where a ranger hosts the table under the stars. Meals otherwise run buffet style, drawing on Pan-African recipes and produce from nearby farms. Bush walks, a photographic hide at water level, and excursions into Kruger National Park extend the reserve beyond its own fences. It is a working conservation area as much as a stay, with a nearby rescue centre and community tree-planting visits built into the guest programme. Check-in runs from 2pm.
