Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge occupies Fox Island, a remote island in Resurrection Bay off the Alaskan coast near Seward. There is no road to it — you arrive by boat or small plane — and it is the only lodge on the island. The lodge is open from May through September.

Eight cabins sit along the waterfront, placed in the woods between a pebble beach and a sheltered lagoon. The main lodge building holds a lounge, a kitchen serving full meals, and a sundeck that looks out over Halibut Cove. Every guest's stay includes a Resurrection Bay cruise with a full buffet meal on the water.

From the lodge you can reach Kenai Fjords National Park by guided tour, and a separate tour runs into the northwestern fjords to see tidewater glaciers. On the island itself, marked trails are available with or without a guide, and the water can be explored by kayak and other paddle-powered craft.

The island's position inside Resurrection Bay puts it within reach of the fjords and the marine wildlife that moves through them — sea otters, seabirds, and humpback whales are common in these waters during the summer season.
