Kicheche Valley Naboisho
Kicheche Valley sits on a hillside in Naboisho Conservancy, a 50,000-acre private conservancy in the Greater Mara region of Kenya. The camp holds six tents — five standard and one family suite — each built on a raised wooden platform in an octagonal shape, with en-suite bathrooms running solar-heated water. The lounge and dining area looks out over the valley; you can eat there or under open sky.
Naboisho, whose name means 'coming together' in Maa, is managed with roughly five hundred local landowners and holds some of the highest lion densities in Africa — around one hundred lions, including what is recorded as the continent's largest pride. Leopards, elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, and zebra move through the same landscape. Because the conservancy limits vehicle numbers, your guide can follow a sighting without a queue of other vehicles beside you.
Game drives run in the morning and late afternoon in custom four-wheel-drive vehicles; night drives are available at this camp and are included in standard rates. Guided walks on the savannah run alongside the drives. For guests who want to go further, the camp serves as the starting point for Kicheche's fly-camping walking safari, which crosses into Olare Motorogi Conservancy over two days on foot, led by a Silver-rated guide and an armed ranger.
The camp runs on twenty-four-hour solar power and has WiFi in tents. A spa tent offers massage, manicure, and pedicure treatments. The minimum age for children is seven years.
