Kilima Camp

Kilima Camp occupies a ridge on the Oloololo Escarpment at 1,850 metres above the Masai Mara plains in Kenya's Narok District. The camp opened as a small eco-lodge with twelve Classic tents and three Deluxe tents, all facing the Mara River and the reserve below. Canvas structures sit on wooden decks with private verandahs; each tent includes an en-suite bathroom with hot running water and a flush toilet. Classic tents accommodate up to three adults. The two Family Deluxe tents sleep two adults and two children, with larger decks and additional floor space. A separate Honeymoon Deluxe tent holds two guests.

The Oloololo Gate into the Mara Triangle lies fifteen to twenty minutes down a private descent road from the camp. Open-sided 4x4 Land Cruisers carry up to six guests per vehicle on game drives that follow no fixed schedule. Rangers plan routes according to what you want to see. Guided walks led by Maasai naturalists cross the escarpment's wilderness tract above the reserve boundary. Horse-riding safaris operate in the private conservancy outside the park, where you ride alongside giraffe and zebra under the guidance of Simon, the camp's equestrian specialist. Rides range from one hour to six, with optional picnic stops on longer routes. The camp serves meals from a kitchen garden and organises Maasai village visits, archery lessons, and sunset sundowners. Hot-air balloon flights and helicopter safaris lift from sites nearby.
