Kings Creek Station Drovers Dream

Established in 1981 by Ian and Lyn Conway on vacant crown land in Petermann, Kings Creek Station is a working cattle property on 2,200 square kilometres of leasehold and freehold ground. The station lies thirty-six kilometres from Kings Canyon, set among desert oaks beneath the George Gill Range. Ian Conway is the grandson of William Liddle, who took up the first pastoral lease in the Kings Canyon region in 1907; his father, Mortimer, worked as a boss drover for Syd Kidman for twenty years. The property opened with no water, no electricity, and no roads. Five accommodation tiers span powered and unpowered camping through to the Dreamtime Escarpment tents. Bush Tents are twin-share with air-conditioning, shared facilities, and a camp kitchen; breakfast is a cooked Bushman's buffet at the café. Mort Conway Camp holds ten tents set 3.7 kilometres from reception, each with king or twin beds, private ensuite, reverse-cycle air-conditioning, and a mini-fridge. Drovers Dream comprises ten tents 5.8 kilometres from reception, each with a queen bed, walk-in ensuite shower, deck with barbecue, and fire pit. Dreamtime Escarpment tents occupy an elevated position 6.8 kilometres from reception, with private bathrooms, coffee machines, and a shared pool overlooking the desert. A two-hour buggy tour departs at sunset, crossing private bush trails through the George Gill Range with canapes and champagne. The on-site café serves breakfast and meals; camel burgers are a standout item. A swimming pool, laundry, and fuel shop operate on the property. Watarrka National Park, home to 300-metre sandstone walls and palm-filled crevices, lies thirty-six kilometres distant.
