La Cigale Estate

Built in 2020 to honour a family farming line that extends to the 17th century, La Cigale Estate stands on 4.5 acres beside Côte d'Or Beach on Praslin Island. The plantation house holds five en-suite bedrooms across three floors, each facing either the Indian Ocean or the tropical gardens; a staircase and lift connect all levels. Recycled teak from Indonesia covers the floors. Badamier—a local Indian almond—salvaged during construction forms the bathroom vanity counters; two takamaka trees from the estate grounds were repurposed as furniture in the living room. Four garden pool suites, each with a plunge pool and indoor-outdoor bathroom, occupy separate pavilions within the grounds.

A staff of 25, led by general manager Maxime Rachel, includes butlers, chefs, a spa therapist, and a mixologist. The estate accommodates a maximum of 18 guests. Meals are prepared without fixed menus; the chef works to preference and serves on the beach, poolside, or in the wine cellar. The estate grows chillies, lemongrass, mint, curry leaves, mangoes, passion fruit, and star fruit on site. A floodlit tennis court, pétanque piste, Technogym, swimming pool, and home cinema are available. Yoga, Pilates, and meditation sessions take place daily. The Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the coco de mer palm, lies a short drive inland.
