Last Word Kitara
Last Word Kitara sits on the bank of the Klaserie River inside Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which shares an unfenced eastern border with Kruger National Park. With six suites, the lodge can be booked as a whole property — useful for families or groups who want the reserve to themselves.
The suites are arranged in a line along the river, each with a private balcony, indoor and outdoor shower, bath, air conditioning, and a complimentary minibar. Suites are adjoining but do not interconnect internally. The river faces the verandahs, and at water level the bank draws elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard — the same animals that cross from the unfenced Kruger beyond.
Game drives run morning and afternoon in open vehicles with a guide and tracker. The reserve also offers guided bush walks and rhino tracking on foot, both available on request. For something further afield, the lodge has partnered with Hope For Wildlife Helicopter Services for an hour-long scenic flight over the reserve and across Blyde River Canyon, led by pilot-conservationist Jana Meyer.
Back at the lodge, a pool overlooks the Klaserie River, and communal dining, a bar, a library, and a game-viewing hide are all on site. The lodge supports community conservation causes, details of which the team shares with guests on arrival. Airport shuttle transfers are available on request.
