Fishing

Laxa in Dolum is a medium-sized river in west Iceland, its rocky bed alternating pools and runs over twenty-six kilometres of water. Only four to six rods fish it in prime weeks, and the average catch has run to 1,040 salmon a year over the last two decades. Many pools are deep and clear, making for visual fishing where you can watch fish take. Lower beats run smooth and wide, suited to single-handed rods and the riffle hitch; upper beats are narrower and demand more accurate casting. Fly only is permitted, with hitched tubes, Blue Charm and Collie Dog favoured. English-speaking guides with 4WD vehicles accompany every two rods.
