Le Vieux Fort
Le Vieux Fort is a small hotel on Île Sainte-Marie, the long, narrow island off Madagascar's east coast, a short distance from the island's capital. The setting is the draw: every room has a private terrace, a sea view, a private bathroom, and a mosquito net. A tropical garden on the property also looks out over the sea.
The island itself is the main activity. From the hotel you can reach hiking trails, cycling routes, and dive sites — Île Sainte-Marie sits in waters that humpback whales pass through on their migration, and the surrounding reef and channels are well established for diving. The island's roads are manageable by bicycle, and the interior has patches of forest with endemic plants and birds.
The on-site restaurant serves guests through the week, and a bar is available for drinks. The hotel's position near the capital means the market, the harbour, and the island's other facilities are within easy reach.
All rooms include the private terrace and sea view as standard — there is no category without them.
