Le Vieux Fort

Le Vieux Fort is a small hotel on Île Sainte-Marie, the long, narrow island off Madagascar's east coast, a short distance from the island's capital. The setting is the draw: every room has a private terrace, a sea view, a private bathroom, and a mosquito net. A tropical garden on the property also looks out over the sea.

The island itself is the main activity. From the hotel you can reach hiking trails, cycling routes, and dive sites — Île Sainte-Marie sits in waters that humpback whales pass through on their migration, and the surrounding reef and channels are well established for diving.
