Leatherback Beach Villa

Leatherback Beach Villa sits on the Machangulo Peninsula, a narrow strip of land across Maputo Bay in southern Mozambique, with each of its four bedrooms facing the Indian Ocean. The property is taken on an exclusive-use basis — all four rooms, sleeping eight — which makes it well suited to families or a group travelling together.

The Master Suite occupies a dune above the rest of the property, with a king bed, seating area, tea and coffee station, and a small bar fridge. Rooms 2 and 3 sit closer to the pool, are connected by a private deck, and have twin beds that convert to king, each with an additional single for children. Room 4 is set apart from the main building on a wooden walkway, with its own deck, indoor and outdoor showers, and a tea and coffee station — the arrangement suits guests who want more separation from the main group.

The shared spaces include a private swimming pool, sun deck, fire pit, lounge, dining room, and a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering. A bar, barbecue facilities, and meals on request are also available. The property team provides breakfast in the rooms and handles laundry at no additional charge.

A short walk along the beach reaches Ponto Abril, a small bay where a yacht wreck now supports enough marine life to make snorkelling worthwhile. The villa also arranges scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, turtle tracking, and whale watching.
