Leroo La Tau

Leroo La Tau sits on cliffs more than ten metres above the Boteti River on the western bank, where the river runs along the edge of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The water draws zebra, wildebeest, elephant, and crocodile to the bank below, and you can watch them from your chalet or from a photographic hide built into the riverbank at water level.

The lodge holds eleven thatched, glass-fronted chalets and one family suite of two interconnected en-suite rooms, accommodating a maximum of twenty-four guests. Each chalet is raised on a wooden platform with a private viewing deck facing east across the river and the park, giving a 270-degree arc over the Boteti River valley. Fans cool the rooms; there is no air-conditioning. Generator power runs through the day and evening, with twelve-volt DC lighting through the night.

Twice-daily game drives run inside Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, where lion, leopard, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, and kudu range alongside the zebra and wildebeest. The annual zebra migration moves along the Boteti from roughly May to October and is visible from the lodge itself. When water levels permit, motorboat safaris run on the river. A three-night stay unlocks additional excursions: a day trip taking in Nxai Pan and the Baines Baobabs, a cultural visit to nearby Khumaga Village, and a sleep-out on the salt pans.

The lodge is approximately one hundred and forty kilometres southeast of Maun.
