Wildlife
Lion Sands sits within a private reserve of 12,400 hectares, where the Sabie River draws one of the densest, most varied wildlife populations in the southern hemisphere. All of Africa's Big Five roam here, alongside 150 mammal species and more than 500 recorded bird species. Expert field guides and trackers lead game drives and walks, reading tracks and behaviour to bring guests close to lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Sightings shift with season and river levels, so no two drives repeat. The reserve borders Kruger National Park, keeping migration routes open and animal numbers high year-round.
