Liwonde Safari Camp

Set inside a private conservation area within the fence of Liwonde National Park, Liwonde Safari Camp lies three kilometres west of the main gate. The camp is unfenced; elephants and other wildlife move through the grounds. Accommodation includes campsites, three dormitories named Hippo, Buffalo, and Elephant, safari tents, and one chalet. Safari tents have an en-suite toilet; showers are close by but not en-suite. The chalet accommodates two guests. Dormitory guests must bring their own towel.

Two viewing decks overlook the habitat; a small plunge pool, a bar, a restaurant, and a self-catering area serve all guests. Solar power runs the camp; a charging area is available for cameras, laptops, and phones, and a solar fridge is provided for guest use. You can hear and watch elephants from the decks. Game drives depart in open vehicles; boat safaris run on the Shire River at sunrise or sunset, tracking hippos and crocodiles. Walking safaris circle the immediate camp area. Security guards patrol at night to monitor wildlife movement and inform guests. Internet access is available briefly during daylight hours for guests without a local SIM card; TNM and Airtel reception is strong throughout the camp.
