Lolelunga Private Reserve

Game drives here follow the Lunga River, whose 13 km of clear water cuts through Zambia's first fully fenced private reserve, 30 km north of Kafue National Park. Guided walking safaris, canoeing and fishing fill the days alongside the drives, with night drives and sleepouts on offer after dark. The reserve covers 30,000 hectares of northwest Zambia, restored over recent years toward rewilding and conservation, and now holds elephant, lion, buffalo, sable antelope and hippo. Cheetah were reintroduced in 2024, and black rhino are planned to follow. Just fourteen guests stay at a time, across seven rooms set along the river. The King Room runs to 55 m², with an outdoor seating area and uninterrupted river views. The Family Suite spans 97 m² with two en-suite bedrooms and a shared lounge. Evenings can be spent on the Ngoma Deck, raised over the water for private dining or a night under the stars. A gym and spa sit on site, and every room carries mosquito netting and a private balcony. Meals draw on local ingredients alongside Zambian dishes, changing with the season. It is a compact stay. The pairing of a small footprint with active conservation work, including the cheetah reintroduction, sets Lolelunga apart from larger reserves nearby.
