Mahogany Springs Lodge

Mahogany Springs sits on the Munyanga River at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Kanungu, Uganda. The gorilla tracking start point is a two-minute walk away, which is why most guests are here. The lodge holds twelve suites in three configurations: eight Superior Suites, two Presidential or Family Suites each with two bedrooms and a private lounge, and two Honeymoon Suites with a Jacuzzi bath alongside the open shower. Every suite has a private terrace, mosquito nets, continuous power, and views over the river and surrounding forest canopy.

The kitchen draws most of its produce from the lodge's own gardens and caters to all dietary requirements. Dining is available indoors or on a raised outdoor terrace; the bar stocks a wide selection of drinks and serves through the day. The Opatra London Spa, positioned above the river, offers facials, massages, and foot treatments — pre-booking is recommended.

Bird watching is a practical option on site: the Munyanga River and open grounds attract a wide range of species, and the lodge runs complimentary guided garden tours with a resident bird-watching specialist. Beyond the property, guided options include a two-to-three-hour waterfall walk up into the national park, a Batwa cultural visit, and the Ivy Trail, a three-to-five-hour guided walk across to the southern side of the forest. The lodge's own school, Bwindi Plus, is two minutes away by car and open to guests at no charge.
