Mara Engai Wilderness Lodge sits on the Oloololo Escarpment, high above the Mara Triangle in Kenya's Masai Mara. From that position you look down over the savannah; the private decks of the tented suites face either the open plains or the ravine forest below the ridge.

The lodge holds twenty tented suites in two categories. Deluxe suites have king or queen beds, full en-suite bathrooms, large private decks, and complimentary organic bathroom supplies sourced locally. VIP suites add panoramic Mara views, a minibar, and a coffee machine. Both are furnished with antique and local art.

The lodge has its own private road into the Mara Triangle, so game drives begin without first crossing public tracks. Rangers take vehicles out into the triangle, where lion, elephant, giraffe, and a wide range of birds are resident year-round. Guided nature walks and birding expeditions run on foot. Balloon safaris operate through Governors Ballooning, lifting off over the triangle at dawn. Bush breakfasts, bush dinners, and lunch at a dedicated vantage point above the plains are all offered as separate experiences.

Back at the lodge: an infinity pool, a full spa with treatment rooms, a restaurant, a library, and a conference room. The property describes itself as eco-friendly and lists vegetarian dining among its kitchen options. Cultural tours to local Maasai communities run as an off-site activity. The lodge is reached by road from Narok or by light aircraft to one of the nearby Mara airstrips, with an airport shuttle available on request.
