Mbale Resort Hotel
Mbale Resort Hotel sits on Bungokho Road in Mbale city, eastern Uganda, with Wanale Hill visible from the guest rooms and Mount Elgon as the wider backdrop. It is a contemporary property — air-conditioned rooms with ensuite bathrooms, Wi-Fi, mini fridge, in-room safe, coffee and tea facilities, and a hairdryer — built for travellers who want a comfortable, well-equipped base while moving through the eastern region.
Three restaurants are on site: the Sterling, Pigeon, and Doves, each serving local and international food. Bars, gardens, and event venues round out the facilities, which also include a swimming pool, gym, and spa and wellness centre.
The location does useful work. Mbale is the main city of eastern Uganda, and the hotel puts you within reach of several of the region's notable places: Sipi Falls and Sisiyi Falls to the north, the Nyero Rock Paintings to the west, the Kapkwai Forest Exploration Centre on the slopes of Mount Elgon, and Wanale Hill, which you can see from the hotel. Mount Elgon National Park, which straddles the Uganda-Kenya border, is the obvious reason most visitors come this far east.
The hotel also has versatile event venues, which makes it a working conference address for Mbale, not only a stop for tourists.
