Mola Mola Safaris Marine Dolphin Cruise

The Atlantic coast at Walvis Bay runs between open ocean and the Namib Desert, and Mola Mola Safaris works both. Out of the waterfront office, tours go onto the water, into the dunes, or combine the two in a single day.

The main destination on the water is Pelican Point, a peninsula where seals, dolphins, pelicans, and — seasonally — whales come close to the boats and kayaks. A planing catamaran takes you out; from the beach, you paddle among the seal colony in either a standard sit-on kayak or a clear-hulled crystal kayak, where the transparent hull lets you watch the animals through the floor while you paddle. Guides serve a light brunch on the beach afterward, then a 4x4 drives you back along the peninsula, finishing on a dune above the pink salt pans. These kayak trips run from a quarter to eight until noon, with private departures available on request.

For a longer day, the Marine-Dune route extends south to Sandwich Harbour, driving through high coastal dunes where desert and ocean meet. The Pelican Point Beach Braai adds fresh local oysters, rock lobster, and beef fillet cooked on the beach.

The overnight expedition heads north along the Skeleton Coast — dune fields, shipwrecks, and some of the most isolated stretches of the Namibian shoreline, sleeping under open sky. Mola Mola has been running these trips since 1995.
