Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard

Mont Rochelle sits on thirty-nine hectares of vineyard below the Dassenberg Mountains in Franschhoek, forty-five minutes by car from Cape Town. The hotel has twenty-six rooms and suites ranging from Shiraz Rooms with courtyard or valley views through to Cap Classique Suites with a private terrace and heated plunge pool. A separate four-bedroom Manor House, a short walk from the main building and close to the winery, can be booked for exclusive use by families or groups.

The estate produces its own wine from a winery built in the 1850s, originally a fruit packing shed. The winemaker runs cellar tours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and hosts a five-course paired dinner on selected evenings. Complimentary tastings run daily; private tastings for up to eight people can be arranged on four days a week. Mont Rochelle is also a stop on the Franschhoek Wine Tram's hop-on, hop-off route.

There are two restaurants: MIKO, which serves a menu with views across the valley on three sides, and The Country Kitchen, an informal space beside the wine cellar that also sends out picnic baskets onto the estate. The spa has two treatment rooms and a hammam, using the Africology range of essential-oil products. A floodlit tennis court, heated outdoor pool, and a gym with full equipment are on site.

Franschhoek town — with its restaurants, galleries, and Saturday market under oak trees — is a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk from the hotel. The property offers complimentary transfers into town at set times.
