Moonlight Champa Riverview
Ten rooms, one river deck, in Luang Prabang's heritage quarter since 2011
Moonlight Champa Riverview is the second property from a Lao hospitality brand founded in 2011, named for the dok champa, the country's national flower. The original Moonlight Champa Guesthouse opened in Vientiane; this riverside sibling followed in Luang Prabang, inside the town's UNESCO World Heritage quarter. It is a ten-room hotel, small enough that the lobby staff know most guests by name within a day. Rooms are set along the Nam Khan River, with a King Riverview Room facing the water from a private balcony, a bathtub, and a king-sized bed. Other categories include a Double Room with a mountain view and sunset balcony, a Superior Double with a large bathtub, and twin rooms set at street or lower level, one opening onto a small enclosed patio. All rooms carry air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, safe box, fridge, and en-suite rainfall shower or bathtub. A shared deck runs above the river, used for breakfast and evening drinks, and the lounge doubles as a bar. Bicycles are free to guests. Staff arrange tours to Kuang Si waterfall, Mekong sunset cruises, and tickets on the Lao-China Railway. You can hear the river from the terrace after dark. Reception runs main hours from 8am to 9pm, though someone is always at the lobby.
