Moremi Game Reserve - Xakanaxa area

This is a five-night serviced mobile safari that departs Maun by light aircraft and takes you into Moremi Game Reserve, set within the Okavango — an inland delta in north-west Botswana where rivers spread across the Kalahari basin and never reach the sea. They form instead a shifting mosaic of channels, lagoons, grasslands, dry woodland, and seasonal floodplains. Moremi sits where the permanent water meets dry land, which is why wildlife concentrations here are high: animals move between wet and dry ground with the seasons, and the reserve holds both habitat types within a single area.

The itinerary runs on two modes. On land, game drives cover the reserve's drier woodland and pan areas. On water, mokoro excursions — flat-bottomed dugout canoes poled through shallow channels — move you quietly through the delta. Return light aircraft transfers between Maun and the reserve are included in the package.

The safari team erects and dismantles camp at each location. You sleep in walk-in Meru-style canvas tents; each tent has its own bucket shower and a bush toilet set apart from the sleeping area. Meals are cooked over an open fire. A dedicated camp assistant manages day-to-day logistics. Groups are capped at twelve guests across two vehicles, and full departures can be booked privately for families or small groups.
