Meerkats Encounters
Dawn burrow visits with three habituated Kalahari meerkat colonies
Skip to product information
Tswalu's Motse camp gives access to three meerkat colonies that have grown used to human presence over time. Guests head out early, before the sun is high, to reach the burrows just as the animals stir for the day. Sitting quietly nearby, you watch them emerge, groom, and forage without altering their behaviour. Because the colonies are habituated rather than tame, sightings stay close and unhurried. The outing pairs naturally with Motse's other Kalahari pursuits, including game drives and walks, but stands apart for its calm, ground-level view of a genuinely wild social animal.
