Mukambi Safari Lodge sits on the bank of the Kafue River in the central section of Kafue National Park, near Chunga. The lodge is family-run and holds fourteen rooms across four accommodation types: standard thatched rondavel chalets in double or twin configuration, a family chalet sleeping four across two rooms, four luxury tents, and a two-bedroom riverside villa.

The luxury tents each have a private deck over the river with a freestanding ball-and-claw bathtub outside. The furniture is made from recycled wood salvaged from dhow boats that once sailed the Tanzanian coast. The family villa and chalets face the river; the family chalet also has a small sitting room.

Game drives run twice daily — one at sunrise, one in the afternoon that continues into the night. The vehicles are kept on the far bank of the Kafue River inside the park, so every drive begins with a short boat crossing. Walking safaris of roughly three hours leave in the early morning and cover the park itself. Boat cruises run at any time and include a scheduled sunset cruise each evening. Fishing trips on the river last around two and a half hours; basic equipment and bait are provided.

The lodge operates a community school on the property, now in its fourteenth year, which provides education to ninety-two local children and employs five teachers permanently. The restaurant has two deck levels where all meals are served.
