Set at the foot of ancient fossilised dunes on the edge of the Namib Desert, Namib Desert Lodge lies on the C19 road sixty kilometres north of Sesriem. Sixty-six rooms face either the dune base or grassy savannah; all have twin, triple, or four beds, en-suite showers, air-conditioning, and a veranda. One family room is designed for guests with restricted mobility. A waterhole and two pools anchor the property.

Guided drives depart at sunrise or sunset and cross Gondwana Namib Park, tracking the fossilised plateau and the red dunes that rise above it. Self-guided walking trails begin at the lodge and thread through the immediate desert. A three-kilometre night walk uses UV light and laser pointers to reveal nocturnal species and detail invisible by day. Half-day excursions run to Sossusvlei and the UNESCO-listed Namib Sand Sea, home to some of the tallest dunes on the continent, and include brunch.

The lodge has a restaurant, a bar, secure parking, and a curio shop. Staff speak English and Afrikaans. Laundry service and wireless internet are available. You can arrange activities through the on-site desk.
