Nehimba Lodge

Nehimba sits on a private concession in the northern section of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, where mopane woodland meets the Kalahari sandveld. The lodge holds nine raised thatched chalets — four doubles, two twins, and two family rooms — each positioned on a deck that looks directly over a waterhole. Rooms run between forty and sixty square metres and include a free-standing bath and an outdoor shower. The family rooms sleep two adults and two children in a single unit.

The main lodge has a lounge and dining area with a lower deck for open-air meals, and a pool that elephants visit to drink. Evenings usually end around a fire; a bar, barbecue facilities, and complimentary internet access are available at the lodge.

Activities run from the concession: morning and afternoon game drives, guided walks with an armed professional guide, and night drives using filtered spotlights to find hyena, porcupine, civet, and genet. Two natural landmarks are within reach — the Nehimba Seep, a year-round surface water source that draws elephants digging for minerals, and Mandavu Dam, fifteen kilometres from Sinamatella Camp, used for birding and waterside picnic brunches.

The lion prides in this part of Hwange are known to hunt elephant, which reflects the size and density of the elephant population across the concession. An airport shuttle and private vehicle transfers are available on request.
