Nokanyana

Nokanyana sits at the junction of the Khwai and Mababe Rivers, on the northern border of Moremi Game Reserve. The camp holds ten tents: seven face the Khwai directly, with unobstructed water views and the wildlife the river draws in; the other three are family units set slightly back in the bush, with elevated decks for game-spotting from your own veranda. All tents have both indoor and outdoor showers, twin sinks, and a lounge area. The river-facing rooms have three-quarter beds that convert to a king on request; the family units have a second adjoining bedroom with two single beds.

Game drives run morning and afternoon across a large concession that includes the Mababe Depression. Full-day drives reach further into Moremi, Savute, or the wider Khwai area, with lunch set in the bush. Night drives go out in search of nocturnal predators. Guided walks last two to three hours and cover tracks, trees, insects, and birds alongside the possibility of big game — children sixteen and older may join. Nature walks, suitable for all ages, cover the smaller details of the environment.

A mokoro excursion is available by road transfer, roughly two and a half hours each way, taking around six hours in total and dependent on water levels. Scenic helicopter flights over the Delta can be combined with a mokoro morning or a visit to Elephant Havens, a non-profit that rescues and hand-rears orphaned elephants with the aim of returning them to the wild. Cultural visits to a nearby village are led by a local guide. The camp also has a pool, a bar, a restaurant with communal dining, and complimentary internet access.
