Okonjima Luxury Bush Camp

Set at the base of the Omboroko Mountains within the 22,000-hectare Okonjima Nature Reserve, the Luxury Bush Camp comprises eight thatched chalets and one junior suite spread across acacia thornveld in central Namibia. The reserve is malaria-free. Each chalet occupies 105 m² with 180-degree glass frontage, two queen-size beds, air-conditioning, and a detached sala lounge fitted with a Nespresso machine, tea station, and fridge. The junior suite spans 120 m² and includes an en-suite lounge, fireplace, bathtub, and outdoor shower. Chalets stand eighty to one hundred metres apart, each with undercover parking and a power point for charging travel fridges.

The central lapa is built in a camelthorn pod shape and holds reception, a curio shop, lounge with indoor and outdoor fireplaces, restaurant, and dining terrace overlooking a waterhole. A swimming pool is reserved for Bush Camp guests. Wireless internet and mobile reception reach all chalets.

Leopard tracking drives use telemetry to locate collared leopards within the reserve, where research has run since 1997. Brown hyena tracking follows a population estimated at twenty-four individuals per hundred square kilometres, the highest recorded density for the species. Rhino tracking on foot is led by the anti-poaching team. Pangolin tracking operates at night in summer and by day in winter, joining researchers from the AfriCat Foundation. Game drives cross the reserve without telemetry, focusing on wildlife movement across the wider landscape. Guided bush walks and self-guided trails are mapped from reception. All activities operate under the Foundation's long-term conservation research programme, which has monitored three generations of leopard since the reserve's establishment in 1993.
