One & Only Nyungwe House
Part of Phasec create
One&Only Nyungwe House sits on a working tea plantation at the boundary of Nyungwe Forest Reserve in western Rwanda — one of the largest montane rainforests in Africa. The twenty-three rooms and suites look out over rows of tea and into the forest canopy beyond.
Rooms come in three configurations. The one-bedroom Nyungwe Rooms, available in king and twin-queen layouts, are set among the treetops and open onto private balconies with a lounge area inside. The two-bedroom Forest Suite has separate wings for each bedroom, wood-burning stoves, private furnished decks, and a central living and dining area enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass — the forest reads as part of the interior from almost every seat.
The forest itself is the main activity. Guided walks run both on and off the property, and the surrounding reserve offers chimpanzee tracking, canopy walkways, and more than six hundred recorded bird species. Off-site options include cultural tours, mountain biking, and helicopter scenic flights over the forest and the tea hills. On the property, there is a pool, a spa drawing on local traditions, and a restaurant built around produce grown nearby.
Nyungwe House is in the Western Province, roughly equidistant between Kigali and the southern shore of Lake Kivu. A private vehicle transfer from Kigali takes approximately four hours.
