Pambele Mozambique

Arriving by boat or helicopter, guests reach Pambele across the water that defines it. The private catamaran covers the 45 minutes from Vilanculos, or a helicopter makes the crossing in seven, landing two minutes' walk from the villas. Either way, Pambele's manager meets guests at the airport and again on the sand. The house sits within the Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary on the San Sebastian Peninsula, its four beachfront villas facing the Bazaruto Archipelago across 200 metres of private shore. Two are Premium Villas, one Classic, one a two-room Family Villa, together sleeping up to ten guests. Each has a king bed under mosquito nets, an en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, and a private deck behind aluminium shutters that block sun and wind but let the sea through. Days run on tide and appetite. The catamaran is available for snorkelling on the reefs of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, kayaking through mangrove channels, sandbar picnics, and fishing, with deep-sea diving arranged separately with an instructor. Whale sharks and humpback whales pass between August and October. Meals are simple and home-style, built around fish and calamari caught daily, served wherever the day has landed you: the pool deck, the water's edge, the communal lounge under its Jecca thatch roof. The infinity pool overlooks the ocean it borrows its colour from.
