Pamuzinda Safari Lodge

Pamuzinda sits on the bank of the Serui River inside a thirteen-thousand-acre private game reserve in Mashonaland West, roughly ninety minutes from Harare and its international airport. The name means Royal Meeting Place in Shona. Seventeen lodges are spread along the river, constructed from natural materials sourced in the surrounding area and set among indigenous trees. The reserve is malaria-free.

The standard river-view lodges each have a private garden with a day-bed, an outdoor shower, and a veranda over the river. The Gate House sleeps up to nine people across three bedrooms — two double, one twin — each with en-suite bathrooms, plus a kitchen, lounge, and veranda. The Royal Lodge suite sleeps up to six and adds a private pool, Jacuzzi, and barbecue area.

On the reserve you can join game drives and night drives, take guided or self-guided walks, go canoeing or fishing on the Serui, ride horses, or spend time with the resident elephants. The lodge also runs garden tours and gourmet picnics. Bird watching is a particular draw — the reserve holds a wide range of riverine and woodland species.

The main lodge has a dining room and lounge with both indoor and outdoor seating, a bar with a large fireplace for cold evenings, and a swimming pool with a pool bar. An airport shuttle is available on request.
