Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa
Beach barbecues unfold every Tuesday and Friday evening at Peponi Beach Restaurant, set between the pool and the shore. Maasai warriors escort the bride during beach weddings; registrars conduct ceremonies under floral archways on the sand. Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa occupies a plot on Diani Beach in Kwale County, forty kilometres south of Mombasa on Kenya's Indian Ocean coast. Forty rooms and suites divide into three tiers. Luxury ocean-front rooms carry king-size or twin beds, double showers, and furnished balconies with daybed, chairs, and coffee table. Premium garden rooms and suites place guests closer to the pool; suites add a sitting and dining area. Deluxe garden rooms and suites offer similar layouts one tier down. All units include mosquito nets, ceiling fans, and air conditioning.
Three restaurants operate on site. Bahari serves breakfast daily and themed dinners; its lounge bar pours espresso and cappuccino beside fish ponds where golden palm weaverbirds build nests. Jahazi Restaurant sits directly on the beach in a 2003 structure built around natural rock; a converted dhow serves as seating, and a wood-fired pizza oven anchors the menu. Peponi stages the twice-weekly barbecues; Giriama dancers and acrobats perform alongside the Maasai. The Amani Spa offers massage therapy, facials, and body exfoliation; treatments begin with a floral foot wash and aromatic salt scrub. A gym, pool, and Zawadi gift shop complete the facilities. Kitesurfing, deep-sea fishing, and beach volleyball can be arranged.
