Game drives leave camp twice daily into the Masai Mara, timed to your preference and led by guides with decades of experience tracking the reserve's resident lion, leopard, and cheetah. Rekero sits above the Talek River in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve, shaded by riverine trees. The camp holds nine tented suites, each with an en suite bathroom, hot-water shower, and a private veranda fitted with a daybed. Two family suites accommodate five guests across king-sized and single beds. A crossing point lies 150 metres downstream from the main deck, where roughly 1.5 million wildebeest ford the river between July and October during the Great Migration. You can watch crossings from the deck or reach them in minutes by vehicle. The Talek flows year-round; hippos grunt from the banks most evenings. Hot-air balloon safaris lift at dawn from designated sites nearby, drifting over herds as the sun rises, and end with champagne on the plains. Bush breakfasts and picnics extend game-viewing time into midday. The camp runs on solar power with a backup generator. Walking safaris and night drives are not permitted within the reserve. Rekero closes in April and May during the long rains. The nearest airstrip, Ol Kiombo, sits twenty minutes away by road.
