Two game drives are included for every night booked at Rhino River Lodge, set inside the 23,000-hectare Manyoni Private Game Reserve in Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal. Mornings start with a coffee stop on the reserve's tracks; evenings end with a sundowner as the light drops over the bush. The reserve holds the Big Five, and guided drives, walks and night drives run alongside rhino tracking and wildlife monitoring sessions with the Manyoni management team. Family-owned since 1998, the lodge keeps nine rooms across a mix of styles. The Hideaway suits couples, with a king bed and private deck. Two Family Loft Chalets sleep four each in log-cabin-style rooms with a loft bedroom and one on the ground floor. Four Deluxe Rooms run in a modern rustic style, two of them inter-leading for families. The Cottage and Homestead stand apart as private safari houses, each sleeping six across two en-suite bedrooms and a loft room, with their own lounge, dining area and veranda; the Cottage adds a private pool above the Msunduze River. Guests can also join anti-poaching K9 demonstrations or walk with a rehabilitated pangolin, with proceeds going to the reserve's conservation programme. Check-in runs from 1pm. The lodge speaks to a mix of couples, families and multi-generational groups, with meals taken together in a communal dining area.
