Rhino Safari Camp

Rhino Safari Camp sits on the shoreline of Lake Kariba inside Matusadona National Park, a protected area managed by African Parks in partnership with the Zimbabwean government and local communities. The camp is fully unfenced, which means elephant, lion, and leopard move through it by day and night. Children under twelve are not accepted for this reason.

Eight chalets stand elevated on mopane poles in the style of the BaTonga palafittas — traditional stilted lake-edge structures built for airflow, flood clearance, and separation from animals at ground level. Each chalet is open-fronted and faces the lake, with a twin or double bed, an en-suite bathroom with outside shower, mosquito netting, and a fan. No air-conditioning is fitted; the raised, open design keeps the interior cool through natural ventilation.

A double-storey central boma serves meals and offers lake and shoreline views. Elephant families move along the concession throughout the day and are frequently visible from the communal deck. After sunset, guests gather at the fire pit before dinner.

Activities include guided game drives, walking safaris with armed guides, night drives, boat safaris along the shoreline, rhino tracking, catch-and-release fishing for tigerfish and bream, and sundowners on Kariba. Bird watching is also on offer across both land and water.

The camp speaks English, French, and Italian and carries a power generator, complimentary wi-fi, and a laundry service.
