Set on the shore of Lake Ihema in Akagera National Park, Ruzizi Tented Lodge operates nine canvas tents hidden among palms and fig trees. Lake Ihema is the largest lake in the park. Seven classic tents, a tree-top honeymoon tent with outdoor shower and king bed, and one family tent that sleeps two adults and two children are spread along wooden walkways. All units are en suite with flush toilets, hot and cold running water, and shaded verandas furnished with campaign chairs. Solar panels supply power around the clock.

A thatched reception and dining area stands at the centre; a raised deck extends over the lake. A fire pit is used for morning coffee and evening drinks. The lodge is designed, built, and operated by the park; profits fund Akagera's conservation work. Boat trips on Lake Ihema depart at 7.30am, 9am, 3pm, and 4.30pm; private departures can be arranged outside those times. Night drives in a safari vehicle with pop-up roof leave at sunset; the vehicle seats seven. Walking safaris with park guides cover 7 kilometres of the 120-kilometre fence line, ending on a ridge. Community guides lead visits to a dairy farm, a banana-beer maker, or a honey cooperative. Fishing on Lake Shakani is available for guests. The lodge is 15 minutes inside the park's southern Giraffe Gate, two and a half hours by road from Kigali.
