Sable Alley

Sable Alley sits on the bank of a lily-covered lagoon inside Khwai Private Reserve, in northern Botswana on the edge of the Okavango Delta. Hippo hold the lagoon; elephant and buffalo come to drink at it. The camp has twelve tents — nine twin or double, one honeymoon tent, and two family tents — each raised on a deck with a private veranda, indoor and outdoor showers, air conditioning, and ceiling fans. The two family tents connect through an enclosed walkway.

Game drives run morning and evening with a camp guide. Beyond the drives, the reserve and waterways allow mokoro trips through the lily pads and sandbanks, guided walks to track spoor and read the bush at ground level, boat cruises along the Okavango channels, catch-and-release fishing, and night drives. Birding is a dedicated activity, and a checklist covers the species of the Delta. Scenic helicopter flights over the Delta are available at additional cost, as are ranger patrols with the Khwai Private Reserve team at dawn.

A portion of revenue from stays goes directly to community projects in Khwai Village, which sits adjacent to the reserve. Guests can visit the village — the school, the Kgotla meeting place, basket weavers, and a traditional healer — on an organised cultural tour.

The camp has a pool, a spa for treatments between drives, and a game-viewing hide on site.
