Sailaway Dhow Safaris

Sailaway runs dhow safaris into Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, departing from Bairro Central on the Mozambique coast. The archipelago is a national park; the dhow is how you reach its coral reefs and islands, which have no road access.

You can go as a day trip to one of the main islands — Magaruque or Bazaruto — or join a longer overnight itinerary that covers several islands and reef sites. All trips include meals, refreshments, and snorkelling equipment. Snorkelling on the coral reefs is the central activity once you are on the water.

For overnight trips, accommodation is on the mainland. Three options are available: a dome tent with camping mattresses, pillows, sleeping bags, and shared showers; an en-suite tent with a double bed and a private shower and toilet; or an en-suite cottage with a double bed, a kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom, and access to a plunge pool. A stretcher bed can be added to the cottage on request.

Sailaway has operated in this way since 1997, with a stated commitment to supporting local economic development and the conservation of the park's natural and cultural heritage.
