Sarara Wilderness
Sarara Wilderness is a private tented camp in the Samburu Ecosystem, configured around a single group at a time. The camp scales to fit — anywhere up to six en-suite tents, each sleeping a small number of guests — and the full complement of staff comes with it: Samburu guides, a chef, and a dedicated vehicle. No other group shares the camp while you are there.
The tents are spacious: solar-heated bucket showers, flush lavatories, and in-room charging points. There is no fixed dining room; meals happen in the bush, sundowners follow the drives, and evenings end at a fire.
The Samburu guides lead game drives along elephant corridors that run through this landscape, and their knowledge of the ecosystem's seasons and wildlife is the backbone of every outing. Birding is strong — more than 365 species have been recorded across the ecosystem. Guides also take guests into local Samburu settlements, and you can arrange a session with Samburu women working traditional beadwork, or time with a local blacksmith. Helicopter excursions can be arranged at additional cost.
The camp sits well outside any town, deep in the wider Samburu Ecosystem. Access is by prior arrangement with the camp.
