Draped in canvas over solid walls, the Executive and Luxury Suites at Savanna keep the look of a tented camp without giving up air conditioning or privacy. Set in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve within the greater Kruger conservancy, the lodge has nine suites, three Executive and four Luxury under canvas roofs, plus the two-bedroom Savanna Suite under thatch. Each has its own deck and a private heated plunge pool. Bathrooms run to free-standing baths and double showers, some opening onto outdoor shower atriums screened by indigenous trees. The Sabi Sand is known for dense leopard sightings, and lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino turn up often enough that a single game drive can produce all five. Five waterholes ring the lodge, drawing elephant especially in the dry winter months, and the main patio looks straight over one of them. Guests take two game drives a day in vehicles built for six, with heated seats and USB charging at every row. Morning bush walks run with a ranger, tailored to what guests want to see. Between drives there is a gym, a wine cellar, a library, and massages given in the privacy of each suite. Village tours introduce guests to community projects the lodge supports, including vegetable gardens and a nearby elderly care home. Dinner sometimes moves outdoors, wherever the weather and the bush allow.
