Serengeti Safari Camp West

Serengeti Safari Camp West is a mobile tented camp that repositions four to five times a year to stay close to the wildebeest migration as it sweeps across the Serengeti. The camp moves between guest stays, not during them, so you arrive at wherever the herds currently are rather than where they were last season. It is run by Nomad Tanzania, one of the earliest operators to establish mobile safaris in this ecosystem and, by their account, the only one still moving a full camp on this schedule.

The camp holds six walk-in meru tents, each with a private bathroom partitioned at the back. One is configured for families: two sleeping areas connected by a shared sitting room. The rest of the setup is deliberately simple — morning tea brought to your tent, meals around a communal table, hot bucket showers, and a campfire at the end of the day.

Days are spent out in the park following the herds and the predators that travel with them. Guides carry breakfast or lunch into the field when the day warrants it, so there is no need to return to camp at midday.

Because there are only six tents and no permanent infrastructure, the camp can be packed down and moved along the route the migration has followed for generations.
