Serengeti Woodlands Camp

Serengeti Woodlands Camp occupies a position on Naabi Hill in the Simiyu Region of Tanzania, in the southern Serengeti. Lake Ndutu, Moru Kopjes, and Hidden Valley are all within reach — ground that holds resident wildlife through every month and receives the great migration herds as they push south from the northern Serengeti.

February is the calving season. Pregnant wildebeest gather on the open plains in large numbers and give birth, and the concentration of prey draws predators — lions, cheetahs, and other big cats follow the herds as they move through the area.

The camp began as a mobile operation and is now semi-permanent. It runs fourteen canvas tents in total, including two designed for families, each with its own en-suite bathroom inside the tent. Every tent has a seating corner, a deck for looking out over the surrounding savannah, and a writing desk. The shared guest area covers a lounge, a bar, and a dining space; evenings end around a fireplace.

Outside the calving season, plains game and resident predators remain on the savannah around the camp, which stays open throughout the year.
