Serian's Serengeti South

Serian's Serengeti South is a mobile camp that pitches on the southernmost edge of the Serengeti's open grass plains from mid-December through May — the months when around two million wildebeest and zebra move through the area to give birth. Roughly four hundred thousand calves are born within three to four weeks, which concentrates predators, particularly cheetah, across the plains in numbers that are hard to find anywhere else.

The camp holds six tents in total. The standard tents are large, en-suite, and double-skinned with shade cloth to reduce midday heat. Family suites pair two separate sleeping tents around a shared living space, each half with its own bathroom; a third child can sleep in the living room. All tents face across the plains.

Each group travels in its own open-topped vehicle with a dedicated guide and spotter, with no fixed schedule to follow. The camp also runs guided walks at dawn, night drives, and fly-camping — lightweight bush camps where you walk through the day and sleep under a flysheet at night. Communal dinners are served around a shared table.

Just south of the camp lies Lake Eyasi, where Hadzabe and Ndorobo guides lead walks that draw on generations of knowledge of this landscape. Outside the birthing season, the surrounding conservation area covers roughly one million acres of acacia-dotted savannah open for game drives and guided exploration.
