Shawa Luangwa Camp sits on the Luangwa's eastern bank where South Luangwa National Park borders the Nsefu sector — among the park's most productive game-viewing ground. The site was selected by Jacob Shawa, the camp's head professional guide, who was raised in the Luangwa Valley and has spent his career reading the wildlife here. He takes guests out on drives, foot, and into the bush for breakfast.

The camp holds five luxury safari tents, sleeping ten guests in total. Two of the tents can be reconfigured as family units. Each tent sits among trees with a river-facing deck, a private plunge pool, an outside shower, and a detached bathroom. The central boma is two storeys high, giving a clear sightline over the river from the upper level.

To reach the national park's game areas on the western bank, you cross the Luangwa by pontoon or boat. Drives go out in electric vehicles, quiet enough that birdsong and animal movement are audible from the vehicle. Walking safaris are led by a guide and an armed scout. The South Luangwa holds around four hundred bird species, and the camp runs dedicated birding alongside night drives, fishing, and guided walks.

Mfuwe Airport is sixty minutes away by road.
