Silverback

Silverback Lodge sits on a ridge above Buhoma, looking out over Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — one of the few remaining habitats of the mountain gorilla. The starting point for gorilla trekking is a five-minute walk from the lodge, so there is no early transfer and no wasted morning.

The lodge holds twelve rooms, each recently refurbished. A king-size or twin bed, private veranda, and a direct view over the forest canopy are standard across room types. The rooms draw on local materials and design, and the mist that settles over Bwindi most mornings is visible from the veranda before you leave for the trek.

The kitchen works with fresh, seasonal ingredients and offers vegetarian options. The lodge also arranges community-based experiences around Buhoma: walks with Batwa guides through the forest edge, and traditional coffee-making sessions with local growers. These run alongside gorilla trekking and birding — Bwindi supports a large number of bird species, and the forest is productive ground for birders who are not solely focused on gorillas.
