Simbavati Camp George

Simbavati Camp George sits inside the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger wilderness in Mpumalanga. The camp holds eight luxury suites, each facing a dry riverbed and each fitted with a king-sized bed convertible to twin, indigenous wood furniture, a deep soaking tub, and both indoor and outdoor showers. A private deck comes with every suite. Each room also carries a unique wall mural — no two are identical.

Game drives go out twice daily, in the early morning and late afternoon, when animals move most. Night drives run in addition to the standard schedule, and guided bush walks take you off the vehicle entirely. The reserve holds the Big Five alongside hippo, wild dog, and a rare small antelope. Bird watching is a listed activity for those who want to slow down and look harder at what the bush offers beyond the large mammals.

The camp also keeps gardens planted with rare South African cycads. On several evenings a week, dinner moves to a boma — a circular enclosure — where food is served around a campfire under open sky. Breakfast after the morning drive is served outside; lunch follows before the afternoon drive. The bar carries a selection of South African wines.

On-site facilities include a pool, spa, gym, and library. Children aged eight and over are welcome. An airport shuttle is available.
