Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah
Nile island hotel where feluccas drift past a French terrace bar
Skip to product information
Water shows up everywhere here. The hotel occupies the southern point of Gezirah Island, and the Nile wraps three sides of the property, so nearly every room and terrace faces open river rather than street. Ceiling fans turn slowly over the lounge at Window on the Nile, where the light through the planting stays green and shaded even at midday. Feluccas drift past below the terrace, unhurried, sails catching whatever breeze comes off the water. Rooms carry Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a minibar and tea and coffee facilities as standard. The infinity pool sits at the water's edge, its surface levelling out against the river beyond, and Sunny Bar serves drinks poolside between laps and sunbathing. La Madeleine, by the lobby, keeps a French bakery counter running for pastries and coffee. A spa and fitness centre round out the leisure side. It is a five-star address built around one long view down the river, with the city's traffic and noise held at a clear distance across the water.
