Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp

Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp sits on the lower slopes of a hill inside the forty-eight-thousand-acre Lumo Conservancy, which shares an unfenced border with Tsavo West National Park. Lions Bluff Lodge and Leopards Lair occupy the upper reaches of the same hill; Cheetah Tented Camp is the camp-level base below them, with views across the conservancy floor.

The camp holds eight tents across two configurations: smaller units that each take either two single beds or a king-size, and larger family units sleeping four or five across two en-suite rooms with a shared sitting area. Each tent has a private veranda and en-suite bathroom. The shared mess area faces the conservancy and catches the evening light.

The conservancy carries lions, elephants, buffalo, cheetahs, lesser kudu, eland, and impala. Over three hundred bird species have been recorded, including the Taita Thrush and Taita Apalis, both found only in this region. Game drives run morning and evening in open-sided vehicles; night drives are permitted within the conservancy, which national parks do not allow. The camp also runs guided bush walks with Lumo Conservancy rangers and a bush breakfast served in the field after an early drive.

The photographic hide is partially submerged beside a waterhole, placing photographers at eye level with animals coming to drink. It has overnight facilities, so you can stay through the night if a nocturnal sighting is the goal.

The kitchen serves home-cooked meals on full-board and can accommodate dietary requirements. The camp runs on solar power and has a no-single-use-plastic policy.
